Dr. Sita Kulkarni
Sita Kulkarni, DMD graduated with highest honors from the University of Medicine and Dentistry‘s, New Jersey Dental School. Dr. Kulkarni completed her general practice residency at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, gaining valuable experience while treating the underprivileged patient community in a clinical setting. Dr. Kulkarni graduated as one of the ten students chosen to the Omega Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society, and remarkably graduated dental school shortly after turning 24, making her the youngest dentist in her class.
While in dental school, Dr. Kulkarni was the recipient of the New Jersey Dental School Student Leadership and Distinguished Service Award, IDANA Student award. In addition to her academic awards and accolades, Dr. Kulkarni was very involved with the American Student Dental Association where she lobbied for various bills affecting dentistry to be passed in Washington, DC.
Dr. Kulkarni’s community service is very important to her and has endured beyond dental school, having visited Haiti to provide free dental care to hundreds of Haitians. Dr. Kulkarni plans on continuing this work and intends to visit many countries to do work around the world, as a member of Dentists Without Borders – as well as volunteering to provide dental work in the local community.
Dr. Kulkarni is an active member of the American Dental Association, New Jersey Dental Association and Middlesex County Dental Society.
When not treating patients, Dr. Kulkarni enjoys traveling, playing the Sitar, reading and indulging her love for adventure sports – having been skydiving, parasailing, paragliding, cliff diving, rappelling, white water rafting and zip lining.
Dr. Kishor Kulkarni
Dr. Kulkarni originally graduated from dental school in India in 1978. He practiced there for five years, and then moved to the U.K. From there, he took up dentistry in the States. Dr. Kulkarni then graduated from the New York University School of Dental Medicine in 1999. He launched his own practice over fifteen years ago dedicating much time and energy to our community. With more than ten years of experience in the dental and corporate fields, Dr. Kulkarni has focused on bringing his patients the best that dentistry has to offer by keeping himself and his staff up-to-date on the latest advances and techniques in dentistry.
A Patriot. From January-March of 2008, Dr. Kulkarni, also a Captain in the U.S. Army, dedicated his time treating U.S. soldiers and Prisoners of War in Iraq.
As a Father Dr. Kulkarni inspired his daughters to become interested in the field of dentistry. Dr. Kulkarni’s eldest daughter, Sita Kulkarni, has completed a D.M.D. from UMDNJ and is now practicing dentistry.
He is also a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Mohab W. Tanious
Dr. Tanious graduated from the New York University in 2007. After graduating, he spent an additional year training in General Practice Residency at Bronx Lebanon Hospital. Immediately after this training, he continued his practice in general dentistry in central New Jersey. He soon developed a passion for endodontics and decided to further his education and joined the post-residency program at NYU where he graduated in 2011.
During his stay there, he was involved in the education of endodontics and undergraduate dental students as well as clinical research projects. His goal is to always provide each and every patient with exceptional, personalized care. During his free time, Dr. Tanious enjoys spending time with his wife and two children as well as reading and fishing.
Dr. Unnati Amin
Dr. Amin brings with her a fresh view, creating a truly pleasant atmosphere.
Dr. Amin received her B.A. in 2004 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Arts and Sciences in Philadelphia. She then continued her education at SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2008. She completed her General Practice Residency at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Manhattan in 2009.
After which time, she went on to receive her Certificate in Periodontics from Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Manhattan in 2013. Dr. Amin is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Amin is a proud supporter and participant of the TEAL Ovarian Cancer Walk.
Dr. Javier Urquiola
Dr. Javier Urquiola is a prosthodontist and has been practicing prosthodontics since 1996.
A prosthodontist is a dentist who specializes in the aesthetic restoration and replacement of teeth, receives two or three years of additional training after dental school, and restores optimum appearance and function to your smile.
Dr. Urquiola received his undergraduate education at Columbia University. After college, he entered New York University College of Dentistry and Graduated in 1991. He then continued his dental education in a one-year general practice residency in Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, NY.
Dr. Urquiola received his prosthodontic training at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. He then further sub-specialized in maxillofacial prosthetics in a combined Bronx VA – Columbia University residency program. After completing his post-graduate studies, Dr. Urquiola joined the faculty of Columbia University College of Dental Medicine as a full-time Assistant Professor.
While still in his post-graduate program, Dr. Urquiola published several articles in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, and Quintessence, both peer-reviewed academic journals. Currently, Dr. Urquiola is on the board of reviewers for the Journal of Prosthodontics, the official journal of the American College of Prosthodontists, which promotes the advanced study and practice of prosthodontics, implant, aesthetic and reconstructive dentistry. Dr. Urquiola joined this office in 2017 and he is fluent in Spanish.
Dr. Joseph K. Ahlo
Dr. Joseph Ahlo is a Board Certified Periodontist and Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He specializes in both surgical and non-surgical periodontal therapy, as well as various surgical implant therapies, extractions, and dental bone grafting procedures that include minimally invasive sinus surgery. After graduating with a B.A. degree in biological anthropology from the University of Florida, Dr. Ahlo attended Tufts University in Boston where he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree. He then completed his General Practice Residency at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park on Long Island, followed by his periodontal surgical residency at Columbia University in New York City. While at Columbia, he received his Master’s degree in the specialty of Periodontics, as well as the Melvin L. Morris Fellowship Periodontics Award. He was also published in the New York Academy of Sciences. Dr. Ahlo is actively involved in continuing education in the community and enjoys spending time with his family, sports, and traveling.
